JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Nine factions of political parties at the House of Representatives (DPR) are now involved in a marathon discussion for the establishment of the House’s working commissions and other legislative bodies within the House known as the AKD (Alat Kelengkapan Dewan).

Today (Oct. 14), the House leaders will meet with the leaders of the nine factions in effort to reach an agreement on the number of the working commissions.

Deputy House Speaker Fadli Zon, who is also Gerindra Party politician, earlier said the House leaders have agreed to maintain 11 current commissions. Previously, Gerindra and other members of the Red-and-White coalition have thrown out an idea to add the number of the commissions from 11 to 13.

On the other side, PDI-P along with other members of the ruling coalition want to reduce the number of the commissions from 11 to 9.

PDI-P politician Aria Bima said that the ruling coalition also wants the leadership’s seats at the commissions and other bodies within the DPR can be shared proportionally to the nine factions.

As reported earlier, the Red-and-White coalition, as a majority force at the DPR, has a huge advantage to control all of the commissions and other bodies within the DPR should the election of its leadership go into voting mechanism. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
