JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) has scheduled a consultative meeting on Wednesday (Apr. 1) with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo regarding the nomination of Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as the new Chief of the National Police.
Deputy House Speaker Fadli Zon, politician from Gerindra Party, said the DPR Speakers want to know Jokowi’s explanation on the nomination of Badrodin Haiti as well as the withdrawal of Budi Gunawan’s nomination.
As reported earlier, Jokowi, in his letter to the DPR a month ago, explained that he decided to withdraw Budi Gunawan’s nomination following, among others, criticism from the people related to Budi Gunawan’s status as a graft suspect. Jokowi then decided to nominating Badrodin as new police chief instead.
The DPR, meanwhile, should give their decisions on whether to accept or to reject Badrodin’s nomination before Apr. 17, 2015. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
