JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PDI-P lawmaker Djarot Syaiful Hidayat is expected to be sworn in as the new Vice Governor of Jakarta next week.
Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has signed the presidential decree regarding Djarot’s appointment as new Jakarta Vice Governor.
The former PDI-P’s Secretary General said Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama will install Djarot as his second-in-command accordance to the government regulation in lieu of law No. 1/2014 (known as the direct regional election perpu).
The inauguration itself is scheduled to be held on Dec. 18, 2014, at the Jakarta Balai Agung (Grand Hall) building.
Born in Gorontalo, on Oct. 30, 1955, Djarot Syaiful Hidayat is currently a lawmaker at the House of Representatives (DPR). Prior to become lawmaker, 59-year-old PDI-P politician served as Regent of Blitar regency in East Java for two periods from 2000 to 2010. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
