JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Sinyo Harry Sarundajang, Governor of North Sulawesi and one of contestants of Democratic Party’s primary, expressed his support to back up presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to winning July 9 presidential race.

Sarundajang, who is also member of Democratic Party’s Advisory Council, follows the way of two other contestants of the Democratic Party’s primary, Rector of Paramadina University Anies Baswedan and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) Dahlan Iskan who opt to support Jokowi.

Jokowi and his running mate Jusuf Kalla enter the July 9 presidential election with support from a coalition of PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, Hanura, and PKPI.

On the other side, two contestants of the Democratic Party’s primary have expressed their support to presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto. They are Marzuki Alie (House Speaker and Democratic Party politician) and Ali Masykur Musa (member of the Supreme Audit Agency/BPK and former PKB politician).

Prabowo and his running mate Hatta Rajasa enter the election with support from a coalition of six political parties (Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, PKS, PPP, and PBB).

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in his capacity as Chairman of Democratic Party, meanwhile, earlier decided to be neutral on the presidential election. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
