JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Attorney General Office (AGO) has asked the Immigration Office to ban Dahlan Iskan from overseas travel following the status of the former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) as a graft suspect.

Dahlan has been named as a graft suspect in corruption case related to the construction project of the Java-Bali-West Nusa Tenggara electricity stations during the period of 2011-2013. At that time, Dahlan served as CEO of electricity company PT PLN.

Dahlan will be questioned as suspect in the case on Thursday (June 12). The Thursday’s questioning will be the second examination session for Dahlan. Previously, he has been questioned by the investigator team from the Jakarta High Prosecutor office for eight hours.

Dahlan is the latest former minister of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) administration who has been dragged down by graft case. Four other SBY’s former ministers previously also dragged by graft cases. They are Andi Alfian Mallarangeng, Jero Wacik, Suryadharma Ali, and Siti Fadilah Supari.

The construction of the Java-Bali-Nusa Tenggara electricity stations itself has swallowed budget until more than Rp1 trillion. The State losses is estimated around Rp33.2 billion from this case.

Prior to naming Dahlan as new suspect in the case, the Jakarta High rosecutor office had previously named fifteen suspects. The dossiers of ten out of said fifteen suspects have been submitted to the South Jakarta District Court for trial. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
