MEDAN (Yosefardi) – Former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) Dahlan Iskan, now a graft suspect, has asked for permission of overseas travel to China to the Attorney General Office (AGO) in order to get a medical treatment. Dahlan earlier has been banned from overseas travel for further examination.
Dahlan’s request has been delivered by his lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra. Yusril even claimed that his client already secured the
AGO’s permission to travel to China for 10 days within July 14-24, 2015.
The AGO earlier has asked the Immigration Office to ban Dahlan Iskan from overseas travel for further examination following Dahlan’s status as a graft suspect.
Dahlan has been named as a graft suspect in corruption case related to the construction project of the Java-Bali-West Nusa Tenggara electricity stations during the period of 2011-2013. The construction of the Java-Bali-West Nusa Tenggara electricity stations itself has swallowed budget until more than Rp1 trillion. The State losses is estimated around Rp33.2 billion from this case.
Other than that, Dahlan has been also examined in the two other separate cases of fictitious farm field and electric car.
Prior to his years as Minister of SOE’s under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) administration for the period of 2011-2014, Dahlan served as CEO of electricity company PT PLN . He has filed a pre-trial petition to challenge the AGO’s decision on naming him graft suspect. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
