JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State owned PT Dahana partners with Eurenco and Roxel France for building a propellant plant in Subang, West Java which costs US$200-300 million, Bisnis Indonesia reported this morning.
Propellant is a chemical used in the production of energy or pressurized gas that is subsequently used to create movement of a fluid or to generate propulsion of a vehicle, projectile, or other object.
In firearm ballistics, propellants fill the interior of an ammunition cartridge or the chamber of a gun or cannon, leading to the expulsion of a bullet or shell (gunpowder, smokeless powder, and large gun propellants).
Dahana enagages in the field of strategic industry offering integrated explosives services for Oil & Gas, General Mining and Quarry & Construction sectors.
The plant will be funded by loan (70%), and will take minimum 4 years to complete the construction.
Currently Indonesia imports 200-500 tons of propellant per year. Dahana targets its plant at Subang to produce 1,000 tons of propellant per year.
