JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Supreme Court (MA) has rejected a case review petitioned by Zainal Abidin, an Indonesian citizen and a death-row drug convict.

Spokesperson of the Attorney General Office (AGO) Tony T Spontana confirmed the court verdict on Thursday (Mar. 12) noon.

Tony, therefore, shared his beliefs that other case reviews petitoned by other death-row drug convicts will be also rejected by the Supreme Court.

Zainal Abidin is the only one Indonesian citizen among ten death-row drug convicts scheduled to soon be executed by the government. Back in December 2000, Zainal was caught red-handed with 58.7 kilograms marijuana.

Previously, the government has executed six death-row drug convicts in January 2015. The six were Indonesian citizen Rani Andriani aka Melisa Aprilia, Dutch citizen Ang Kim Soei, Brazilian citizen Marco Archer Cardoso Mareira, Malawi citizen Namaona Deni, Nigerian citizen Daniel Enemua, and Vietnamese citizen Tran Thi Bich Hanh.

The first five were shot to death on the Nusakambangan Island, whereas the one Vietnamese woman was executed in the Boyolali District of Central Java. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
