JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The South Jakarta District Court is expected to rule a pre-trial petition filed by Suryadharma Ali, graft suspect and former minister of Religious Affairs, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Wednesday (Apr. 8).
Judge Tati Hadiati is scheduled to read the verdict at around 10:00 am of Jakarta time. Commenting to upcoming verdict, both lawyers of Suryadharma and KPK shared their optimism to win the pre-trial.
Back in May. 22, 2014, KPK has named Suryadharma, also former PPP Chairman, as a suspect in the haj graft case. KPK charged Suryadharma with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 65 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
Other than Suryadharma, KPK is also facing six other separate pre-trial petitions filed by six other graft suspects.
They are Sutan Siregar Bhatoegana (a politician from SBY’s Democratic Party and former head of the House of Representatives/DPR Commission VII), Jero Wacik (a politician from SBY’s Democratic Party and former minister of Energy & Mineral Resources), Hadi Poernomo (former chief of the Supreme Audit Agency/BPK), Fuad Amin Imron (Gerindra politician and speaker of the Bangkalan Legislative Council/DPRD), Arief Sirajuddin (former mayor of Makassar), and Suroso Atmo Martoyo (former Pertamina’s director for Processing).
