JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Judge Sihar Purba of the South Jakarta District Court is expected on Tuesday (Apr. 28) to rule a pre-trial petition filed by Jero Wacik, graft suspect and one of key leaders of SBY’s Democratic Party, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Jero previously filed a pre-trial petition against the KPK’s decision on naming him as graft suspect in two different cases.
KPK named Jero as a graft suspect in a case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Culture & Tourism. The state loss is estimated at around Rp7 billion from this case.
KPK has also named Jero as suspect in a similar case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Jero served as minister of Culture& Tourism from 2004 to 2011 and as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources from 2011 to 2014 under the ten years of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
