JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The South Jakarta District Court is expected to rule the pre-trial motion filed by Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday (Feb. 16).

The verdict trial will be held at around 9:00 with Sarpin Rizaldi as presiding judge. Around 500 police officers have been deployed to the location to secure the trial.

As reported earlier, Budi Gunawan has asked the court to cancel KPK’s decision on naming him as a graft suspect.

KPK earlier named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect related to suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi Gunawan’s bank accounts and also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel.

KPK charged Budi with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
