JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Judge Sihar Purba of the South Jakarta District Court has rejected a pre-trial petition filed by Jero Wacik, graft suspect and one of key leaders of SBY’s Democratic Party, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Judge Sihar Ourba, in his consideration, concluded that the KPK’s decision on naming Jero as graft suspect is not a part of the objects of pre-trial as stipulated in Article 1 point 10 juncto Article 77 juncto Article 82 of the Criminal Code Procedures (KUHAP).
KPK named Jero as a graft suspect in a case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Culture & Tourism. The state loss is estimated at around Rp7 billion from this case.
KPK has also named Jero as suspect in a similar case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Jero served as minister of Culture& Tourism from 2004 to 2011 and as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources from 2011 to 2014 under the ten years of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
