JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Chief of Justice of the Constitutional Court Hamdan Zoelva confirmed that the Court would rule on Thursday (August 21) on a legal battle over disputed Presidential election which gave a victory for Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Jakarta Governor and politician from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

Hamdan said the verdict trial will be held at 2:00 pm of Jakarta time at the Constitutional Court building.

Commenting to the verdict trial, the losing candidate Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa, as the plaintiff of the lawsuit, is optimistic to win the legal battle.

Similar optimism are also expressed by the General Election Commission (KPU) as the defendant and the president-elect & vice president-elect Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla as the affiliated party.

Firman Wijaya, one of Prabowo-Hatta’s lawyers, said that his side also prepares to file a lawsuit to the Jakarta Administrative Court (PTUN).

Previously, Mahfud MD, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, also former campaign manager of Prabowo-Hatta’s team, said he’s pessimistic that Prabowo-Hatta can win the legal battle. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
