JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Late buying maneuver prevented composite index of Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from falling deeper. The index closed lower by 1.2% to 4406 Wednesday (Sept 25).

The index dropped to as low as 4353 Wednesday, dragged down by blue chip stocks and negative sentiment from the region.

In the region, Nikkei 225 ended lower by 0.76%, while KOSPI composite lost 0.45%. FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI also lost 0.47%, while Shanghai composite down 0.41%. All Ordinaries, however, gained 0.78%, while Hang Seng inched up 0.13%.

In Jakarta, banking stocks led corrections as Bank Mandiri and BRI lost 4% and 3.2% respectively, while BNI declined 2.35%.

Astra International, which rebounded in the opening hour, closed the day lower by 1.56%. Telkom also lost 3.41%, while Unilever Indonesia slipped 0.8%.

Gainers were tower operators, where Sarana Menara advanced 4.5%, while Tower Bersama Infrastructure gained 3.54%.
