JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Civil society groups associated in the so-called People Coalition for Judiciary Monitoring have urged President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to replace the Attorney General HM Prasetyo due to his poor performance.

In a press briefing on Wednesday (Nov. 18), Miko Ginting from said coalition told the press about the necessary of Jokowi appointing new Attorney General.

According to the coalition, Prasetyo has failed in reforming the Attorney General Office (AGO) and resolving past human right cases. Prasetyo, moreover, is weak in eradicating corruption which can be seen from the number of graft cases going to trial.

So therefore, the coalition urged Jokowi to find a better replacement for Prasetyo, someone who ie clean from corruption allegation and free from conflict of interest.

Prasetyo, meanwhile, has actually responded to those criticized him by making rotation to a number of strategic positions at the AGO, including the position of the AGO’s chief for special crimes (Jampidsus). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
