MUMBAI (Yosefardi) – Avantha Group Company CG has bagged an order from PT PLN for manufacture and supply of power transformers, valued at US$62 million (approx INR 410 crore).
The scope of work includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and installation of these power transformers in the range of 30MVA to 268MVA.
They will be installed in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Makassar islands of Indonesia. The project is aimed at enhancing the performance of PT PLN’s transmission grid.
Power Transformers are very critical equipment for PT PLN considering the present power situation in Indonesia.
PLN with an installation base of 48 GW is the sole government-owned corporation in electricity generation, transmission and distribution in Indonesia. From 2013 to 2022, PT PLN has a long-term plan for an additional generating capacity of 59.5 GW, with a total estimated expenditure of around USD 125 billion.
From 1993 onwards, CG has been regularly providing PT PLN’s generation and transmission divisions, power transformers in the range of 30MVA to 500MVA, with voltage levels up to 500kV.
In the past, CG entered into a joint venture with PT PLN to manufacture high-voltage switchgear products of up to the 500 kV class, locally in Indonesia. Furthermore, CG has also invested more than US$15 million to build a first of its kind 550kV Extra High Voltage Test Lab in Indonesia. This makes CG a preferred local partner in this region.
