JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Domestic cement sales reached 5 million tons in May 2014, compared to 4.52 million tons in April 2014.

For January-May period, cement sales grew by 3.7% to 23.78 million from 22.93 million tons in the same period of last year.

The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) is optimistic that domestic cement sales to reach 5 million by end of this year.

The consumption of cement is growing along with the regional development and property projects.

ASI reported, for May 2014, cement sales in Sumatra increased 5.5%, Java rose 8.2%, Kalimantan grew by 21%, and Sulawesi expanded 16%.

While cement sales in Nusa Tenggara and Papua declined 13.4% and 9.3% respectively.
