JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Domestic cement sales grew by 3.6% to 14 million tons in first quarter of this year, compared to 13.58 million tons in the same period of 2013.

In January-February period, the figure only grew by 1.3%.

The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) said in March 2014, domestic cement sales grew by 8.4% to 4.913 million tons, compared to 4.5 tons in March 2013.

The growth was mainly boosted by property industry alongwith the growing demand.

In March, cement sales in Sumatera declined 0.7% to 988,000 tons while cement sales in Java increased 11.2% to 2.7 million tons. While cement sales in Kalimantan rose 3%, Sulawesi +5.4%, Bali & Nusa Tenggara jumped 22%, Papua & Sulawesi also grew by 22%.
