JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Domestic cement sales declined 1% to 4.64 million tons in January 2014, compared to 4.68 million tons in January 2013, due to heavy rains and flood hit Java and Sumatra areas, the largest cement markets in the country. The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) reported cement sales in Sumatra declined 1% to 1 million tons while cement sales in Java fell 2% to 2.5 million tons. In 2013, domestic cement sales grew by 5.6% to 58 million tons, compared to 54.9 million tons in 2012. Domestic cement sales is predicted to grow by 6% to 61.5 million tons this year. The installed national cement production capacity is expected to reach 68.2 million tons, compared to 61 million tons last year.
