JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Singer and actor Irwansyah, also lawmaker candidate from Prabowo Subianto’s Gerindra Party, has been summoned for a questioning on Wednesday (Nov. 5) at the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) office related to further investigation of money laundering case implicating Tubagus Chaeri Wardana aka Wawan.
Wawan is a Golkar Party politician and brother of non-active Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah.
KPK’s Head for News & Information Priharsa Nugraha explained that KPK will question Irwansyah as witness for Wawan, a suspect in the case.
As reported earlier, Irwansyah’s name had been mentioned in the case related to Wawan’s investment in the production house namely R1 Picture owned by Irwansyah.
In the 2014 legislative election, Irwansyah entered the race as Gerindra lawmaker candidate in Banten III electoral region (dapil). Irwansyah, however, failed to secure enough votes to seat at the House of Representatives (DPR).
KPK itself had alleged Wawan’s illicit money flown to young celebrities and lawmakers. KPK had questioned several young female celebrities such as Aima Mawaddah Warrahmah or popularly known as Aima Diaz, Catherine Wilson, Rebecca Reijman, and Jennifer Dunn as witnesses in the case.
Wawan, husband of South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany, had been named as suspect in the money laundering case since Jan. 13, 2014. So far, KPK had seized about 73 cars and one Harley Davidson’s motorcycle belonging or linked to Wawan.
KPK also eyes about more than 100 assets in a form of lands and buildings belonging or linked to Wawan. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
