JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State coal producer Bukit Asam (PTBA) sold 13.24 million tons of coal in first 9 months of this year, grew by 17% from 11.36 million tons in the same period of last year.
PTBA sold 6.22 million tons of coal in domestic market and exported 7.02 million tons. It produced 13.27 million tons in the period, increased 9% from first 9 months of 2012.
PTBA plans to boost its capital expenditure (capex) to Rp4 trillion for 2014, compared to Rp2.2 trillion for 2013, to cover cost for expansion to Myanmar and Vietnam.
PTBA uses this year’s capex of Rp2.2 trillion to fund the development of Patuha power plant, capacity expansion, and Tarahan port in Lampung and Kertapati (Palembang) for transporting coal.
