JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) Tbk (BBTN) enters into remmitance services business for Indonesian workers in Malaysia, in partnership with Bank Simpanan Nasional Malaysia (BSM), the largest deposit bank in Malaysia.
Maryono, BTN’s president director, said after next six months, Indonesian workers in Malaysia can transfer their money through BSM and BTN.
He said this remmitance service business would contribute to BTN’s fee base income, targeted to contribute 15% (Rp677 billion) of this year revenue. In 2012, fee base income only contributed 6% revenue.
Currently around 6.5 million Indonesian people working overseas (in 142 countries), mostly working in Malaysia amounting 2 million people.
In 2012, Indonesian overseas workers contributed foreign exchange of US$6.9 billion, equivalent Rp66.6 trillion.
