JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – In a hearing session with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I on Thursday (Sep. 10) afternoon, Head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Sutiyoso has proposed Rp3.7 trillion budget for the agency in the 2016 State budget (APBN).

This Rp3.7 trillion budget for BIN will, among others, used to recruit 1,000 new intelligence officers to be deployed to the regions throughout the country. Furthermore, BIN has planned to add its intelligence personnel abroad and improving education system for its officers.

Commenting to the BIN’s proposal, deputy head of the House Commission I Asril Tanjung stated that the Commission I agreed to support the request.

The DPR and the government are now in a discussion on the 2016 State budget draft (R-APBN) earlier submitted by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

Other than BIN, the Indonesian Military (TNI) has earlier also asked for additional budget. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
