LONDON (Yosefardi) – PT Berau Coal Energy (BRAU) Tbk produced 7.3 million tons of coal in Jan-April 2013, grew by 27% from the corresponding period of 2012.

Berau Coal sold 7.5 million tons coal in the period, an increase of 21% from the same period last year, Bumi Plc said.

While production cost down by 9% to US$36.4 per ton, average selling price (FOB) fell sharply by 19% to US$63.1 per ton in the period.

“The decrease (in production cost) was driven by lower stripping ratio, fuel costs, and reduced haulage distances,” Bumi Plc said in a disclosure this morning.

Bumi Plc is majority shareholder of BRAU. Bakrie Group and Borneo Lumbung Energy (BORN), meanwhile, are major shareholders in Bumi Plc. Bakrie, however, is finalizing its exit from Bumi Plc.
