JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Bank Central Asia, the third largest bank by total assets, was briefly bigger than Astra International by market capitalization Friday (August 16).

That was when BCA at Rp10750, while Astra at Rp6450. At Rp10,750, BCA had market capitalization of Rp265 trillion, while Astra had Rp261.1 trillion at Rp6450 per share.

Both Astra and BCA, however, ended lower by 3.09% and 4.2% respectively. Astra closed at Rp6300 to make a market cap of Rp255 trillion, while BCA ended at Rp10,300 to make market cap of Rp253.9 trillion.

Astra has lost 17.1% its value year-to-date, while BCA gained 13.2%. The largest company on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) by market cap is still cigarette giant HM Sampoerna (Rp337.5 trillion), while Astra is second largest and BCA third.

Completing the Top 10 are Unilever Indonesia, Telkom Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, BRI, PGN, Semen Indonesia, and Gudang Garam.

Pharmaceutical giant Kalbe Farma (KLBF), meanwhile, gained one spot to 13th ahead of Charoen Pokphand (CPIN) with market cap of Rp73.1 trillion. Kalbe gained 35.8% year-to-date.
