JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Chief of the National Search & Agency (Basarnas), Air Marshal Fransiskus Henry Bambang Soelistyo, confirmed the finding of the main body of the crashed AirAsia QZ8501 plane, Wednesday (Jan. 14).
Soelistyo said the location of the QZ8501’s main body was detected by the Singapore Navy vessel.
Soelistyo also said the joint search team is now still calculating the best way to retrieve the QZ8501’s main body as well as the bodies of the victims on board from the seabed of the Java Sea.
Previously, the joint search team has succeed to retrieve the two parts of the black box recorders of the QZ8501. The two parts of the black box are the flight data recorder (FDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR).
The Indonesian authority earlier said they will read and open the data from the black box in Jakarta in order to find out what happened with QZ8501 just before the crash.
AirAsia QZ8501 was crashed on Dec. 28, 2014, in the Karimata Strait, of south Kalimantan, believed to have killed 162 passengers and crew members. 48 bodies have been evacuated from the crash location. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
