JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed Monday (September 1) that August 2014 inflation was 0.47%, compared to 0.93% inflation in previous month.

Of 82 cities, 66 cities recorded inflation. Highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan while the lowest occured in Banjarmasin. 16 cities recorded deflation, highest in Ternate and lowest in Samarinda.

The inflation was contributed by staple foods (0.36%), processed food beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco (0.52%), housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel (0.73%), clothes (0.23%), health (0.33%), education, recreation, and sport (1.58%), and transportation, communication, financial services (0.12).

Year to date, the inflation was 3.42% while year-on-year inflation reaches 3.99%.
