JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The South Jakarta District Court has ruled in favor to Hadi Poernomo, graft suspect and former Chief of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), in a pre-trial petition against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Tuesday (May. 26).
In the Tuesday’s verdict trial, presiding judge Haswandi concluded that the KPK’s investigation into Hadi Poernomo is illegitimate. Haswandi, in his considerations, said KPK’s investigators who handled Hadi Poernomo’s case have been resigned from their previous institution but are not inaugurated yet as KPK’s official investigators (PPNS).
This is the third loss for KPK. Previously, the South Jakarta District ruled in favor to Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan (now Deputy Chief of the National Police) and Ilham Arief Sirajuddin (former Makassar Mayor) in a separate pre-trial petition against the KPK.
Commenting to the court verdict, KPK Chief Taufiequrrachman Ruki said that the KPK will file an appeal to the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict.
Hadi Poernomo has been named as a graft suspect last year for his alleged role in a Bank Central Asia (BCA) tax case during his tenure as Director General of Taxation in 2002-2004 period. KPK accused Hadi for violating Article 2 Paragraph 1 and or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law due to violating procedure in granting BCA’s tax objection. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
