JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Took place at the State Palace Jakarta, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has sworn in his confidant Andi Widjajanto as new Cabinet Secretary on Monday (Nov. 3) morning.
Kompas.com reported that the inauguration ceremony has been held in a closed-door meeting.
President Jokowi, after the inauguration, revealed that the new Cabinet Secretary will supervise the Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4). The UKP4 itself will help the President to monitoring the implementation of programs in each ministry.
Previously, under the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the UKP4 was directly under the supervision of the President.
Born in Jakarta, Sep. 3, 1971, Andi Widjajanto is one of President Jokowi’s confidants. The 43-year-old lecturer at the University of Indonesia (UI) is the son of the late Maj. Gen. (ret) Theo Syafei, then PDI-P senior
politician and also PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri’s adviser.
In President Jokowi’s Transition Team, he is one of four deputies assisting Rini Mariani Soemarno. During the 2014 presidential campaign, he served as Secretary of Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla’s campaign team. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
