JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Abdurrahman Mohammad (AM) Fachir, 56, has been sworn in as new Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monday (Oct. 27) noon.
Fachir will assist new Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.
Prior to the appointment, Fachir, a senior bureaucrat at the Foreign Ministry, served as Ambassador for Saudi Arabia. He was also former Ambassador for Egypt and former Official Interpreter of President Megawati
Soekarnoputri (2002-2004). He has worked at Foreign Ministry since 1985.
Born in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Nov. 26, 1957, Fachir obtained a bachelor degree from the Jakarta’s State Islamic University IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah.
Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, meanwhile, is the first ever female Minister of Foreign Affairs in the country’s history. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
