JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Jakarta Police has named Ahmad Abdul Qodir Jaelani (popularly called as Dul), the youngest son of famous musician Ahmad Dhani and Maia Estianti, as suspect in a fatal traffic crash at Jagorawi toll road on Sunday (Sep 8), killing six and 9 others injured.
Police Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, Spokesperson of the City Police, confirmed that Dul was behind the wheel of his vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lancer, and lost control at the time of the accident.
He said Dul’s vehicle then struck across a central reservation and entered a different lane before hit two other vehicles, a Daihatsu Grand Max and a Toyota Avanza, coming from the opposite direction.
According to Rikwanto, Dul will be charged with Article 310 paragraph 3 of the Law No.22/2009 on Land Transportation and Traffic Controls. Dul might get a maximum punishment of six years jail term.
Police will also refer to the Law No.23/2002 on the Child Protection Law on treating the suspect because Dul is still a child.
Dul, 13-year-old, has is now treated at the Pondok Indah Hospital. He has undergone a surgery for twice.
Previously, there also two fatal traffic accidents that received a lot of public attention.
Afriyani Susanti, 29-year-old, was sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison in August 2012 for reckless driving that led to the death of nine pedestrians and consuming illicit drugs.
But M Rasyid Amrullah Rajasa, 22-year-old, the youngest son of Hatta Rajasa (Coordinator Minister for Economy, President SBY’s father-in-law, and Chairman of PAN), walked free as he was not jailed though killing two people in the traffic accident. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
