JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor Office has detained former Governor of Central Sulawesi Maj. Gen. (ret) Bandjela Paliudju as graft suspect since Tuesday (Dec. 9).

Spokesperson of the Attorney General Office (AGO) Tony T Spontana confirmed the detainment. According to Tony, Paliudju has been detained at Maesa detention center in Palu, Central Sulawesi.

As reported earlier, the Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor Office has named Paliudju as graft suspect in a case related to allegation of falsifying operational budget during his tenure as Central Sulawesi Governor. The Prosecutor Office estimated Rp21 billion of State loss from the case.

The case itself is a follow up to the new facts found in the trial of graft and money laundering case implicating former Treasurer of Central Sulawesi Governor Rita Sahara, sister-in-law of Paliudju.

Responding to the High Prosecutor Office’s decision, the Nasdem Party earlier has decided to dismiss Paliudju from his position as Chairman of Advisory Board of Nasdem Party’s Central Sulawesi chapter.

Paliudju, during his tenure as Central Sulawesi Governor, was politician from Golkar Party. He served as Central Sulawesi Governor for two periods (1996-2001 and 2006-2011). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
