JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Attorney General Office (AGO) has decided to delay the execution of French citizen Serge Atlaoui, a death-row drug convict, after the Month of Ramadhan.
Spokesperson of the AGO Tony Spontana told the press about the postponement after the Jakarta State Administrative Court rejected Sergei’s appeal, Monday (June 22).
Tony, as quoted by Kompas.com, also opens the possibility that Sergei’s execution will be conducted altogether with the execution of other death-row drug convicts.
Previously, the AGO has also delayed the execution of Mary Jane Veloso, a Philippine citizen and one of death-row drug convicts, due to waiting to the results of new investigation launched by Philippine’s government into Mary Jane case.
The AGO have so far already executed 14 death-row drug convicts. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
