JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The 43-year-old film actress, singer, and former swimsuit model Khadijah Azhari, popularly known as Ayu Azhari, had Thursday (Sept 26) made her testimonies in the Jakarta Corruption Court as witness in trial of graft and money laundering cases related to the beef import quota under the Ministry of Agriculture.
Ayu Azhari has also earlier given testimonies for the trial with defendant Ahmad Fathanah called as a close aide of former Chairman of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq.
The mother of 8 kids of 3 husbands was summoned by the prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to money laundering practices allegedly committed by Fathanah.
As reported earlier, Ayu returned money she received from Fathanah to the KPK in May 2013. According to KP’s Spokesperson Johan Budi SP, the money, US$1,800 and Rp20 million, was paid by Fathanah to Ayu as a downpayment for performances planned for PKS events.
Ayu has previously denied rumors that Fathanah had bought her an apartment.
Ayu is not the only one of the so-called Fathanah’s women who has been summoned by KPK’s prosecutor team. Besides Ayu, KPK’s prosecutor team also summoned adult model Vitalia Shesya, dangdut singer Tri Kurnia, and Fathanah’s wife Sefti Sanustika as witnesses in the case. (haryantos@yosefardi.com)
