JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Finance Ministry is still working to establish a committee to select new Director General of the Taxation Office, Koran Tempo reported.
Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said the establishment of the committee is accordance to the Law No. 5/2014 regarding the State Apparatus.
He, moreover, stated that the next Director General of Taxation can be someone from internal or external of the Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Taxation.
Commenting to the selection process, Executive Director of Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis Yustinus Prastowo asked the Finance Ministry and the selection committee to involve the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports & Analysis (PPATK) in the process of vetting the new Taxation Director General.
“KPK and PPATK should be involved, pretty much like vetting ministerial candidates,” Yustinus said.
As reported earlier, the government is in a hurry to name new Taxation Director General to replace Fuad Rahmany, who will enter his mandatory retirement age on December 1, 2014. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
