SYDNEY (Yosefardi) – Drilling of the Parit Minyak-3 well in the Kisaran production sharing contract, onshore Sumatra, has reached 8360 feet (2549 meters) following mud gas readings and oil shows in the deepest section.

New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG), partner in the block, said the current intention is to drill ahead to a total depth of 8500 feet (2591 meters).

NZOG has a 22.5% interest in the block through its subsidiary NZOG Asia Pty Ltd. Other partners in the block are Pacific Oil & Gas (55%, and operator) and Pacific Oil & Gas (Sumatra) Ltd, a subsidiary of Bukit Energy Inc (22.5%).

The Parit Minyak-2 well fracture operation, meanwhile, was conducted in early August 2013. “The operation has been suspended prior to completion due to high treatment pressures,” NZOG said.
