JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Jero Wacik, who is graft suspect and politician from SBY’s Democratic Party, is on Thursday (Sep. 22) expected to face the demands of punishment from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The prosecutor team from the KPK will read their indictment against Jero Wacik in the Thursday’s trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court at around 1:00 pm of local time.

Previously, Jero had been named as suspect by the KPK in two separate cases. First is an extortion case when Jero served as Minister of Culture & Tourism.

And second is a corruption case during his term as Minister of Energy that also implicating Waryono Karno, another suspect in the case and former Secretary General of the Energy Ministry.

The KPK charged Jero with Article 2 paragraph 1 or Article 3 juncto Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law No. 31/1999 which already amended with Law 20/2001 juncto Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Under the ten years of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration, Jero served as Minister of Culture & Tourism from October 2004 to October 2011 before serving as Minister of Energy for three years (2011-2014). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
