JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Supreme Court (MA) has on Tuesday (Dec. 29) reduced a prison sentence for Angelina Sondakh, a graft convict and former lawmaker of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) Democratic Party, from 12 years to 10 years.

In addition, the Court also reduced the wealth of Angelina that’ll be seized by State from Rp12.5 million and US$2.5 million to Rp2 million and US$1 million.

Previously, Angelina was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court after found guilty for committing corruption related to the scandalous athlete dormitory project.

Angelina then filed an appeal to challenge the verdict, but the High Court of Jakarta upheld the lower court’s verdict. While the Supreme Court even dropped heavier punishment to Angelina from 4.5 years to 12 years imprisonment.

Angelina, however, has not yet give up and filing a case review to challenge the Supreme Court’s verdict. As the results as mentioned above, Angelina got reduction of jail term. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
