JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Suryadharma Ali, graft suspect and former Minister of Religious affairs, has skipped the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court today (Dec. 22) due to stress and illness.
Initially, Suryadharma was expected to attend the Tuesday’s trial as the prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will read their demands against the former Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP).
Suryadharma has been named as a graft suspect since May. 22, 2014, in the graft case related to the haj management during his tenure as the Minister of Religious affairs under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration.
He has been charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 65 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.
