JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III, in their latest meeting last night (Nov. 25), insisted to delay the selection process to elect the new five commissioners of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for 2015-2019 period, putting the future of the KPK in a limbo.
The Commission III, according to the head of the Commission Aziz Syamsuddin of Golkar Party, this time questioned the shortlist of eight KPK’s commissioner candidates previously submitted by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, not listing candidate(s) from the Attorney General Office (AGO).
The Commission III earlier also questioned the selection process conducted by the selection committee of the KPK’s commissioner candidates established by President Jokowi.
On the other side, civil society groups continue to push the DPR to soon conduct a fit and proper test over the shortlist of eight KPK’s commissioner candidates submitted by Jokowi and two other candidates previously submitted by Jokowi’s predecessor, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), since the current KPK’s commissioners will end their term by December 16, 2015.
Furthermore, civil society groups warned the DPR that they have obligation to elect five new KPK’s commissioners among the candidates submitted by the President accordance to Article 30 paragraph 10 of the KPK Law No. 30/2002.(haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
