JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court to sentence the Regent of Morotai Rusli Sibua to 6 years in jail for bribing Akil Mochtar, the disgraced former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
According to KPK’s prosecutor team, Rusli has been proven guilty in bribing Akil with Rp2.989 billion cash money for ruling in favor on him when handling the post-election dispute of Morotai election at the MK back in June 2011.
In the Monday’s trial, KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded panel of judges to order the defendant to pay Rp300 million in fine or serving additional 4 months imprisonment.
As reported earlier, KPK has charged Rusli with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
