JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Dewie Yasin Limpo, a lawmaker from Hanura Party and sister of Governor of South Sulawesi Syahrul Yasin Limpo, as suspect and detained her early this morning (Oct. 22) for allegation of receiving bribe.

The KPK also named five other suspects in the case and detained them. They are Setaidi (a businessman), Devianto (Setiadi’s adjutant), Rinelda Bandaso (Dewie’s private secretary), Bambang Wahyu Hadi (Dewie’s expert staff), and Iranius (the head of mining & energy office at the Papua provincial administration).

Dewie, however, denied KPK’s allegation for receiving bribe related to the microhydro power plant project in Deiyai regency, Papua, in the discussion
of the 2016 State budget draft (R-APBN).

As reported earlier, KPK arrested Dewie and her expert staff Bambang at the Soekarno-Hatta international airport.

Prior to arresting Dewie and Bambang, KPK arrested six other people in a caught-in-the-act operation (OTT) after a bribery transaction at a restaurant in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Tuesday (Oct. 20) evening. They were Setiadi, Devianto, Iranius, Rinelda, another businessman namely Harry, and a rental car driver. KPK seized SGD177,700 from the transaction. KPK, however, later released Harry and the rental car driver. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
