JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – During the first half of 2015, the government managed to increase the number of jobs by 12.31% compared to the same period in 2014, or an increase of about 685 thousand people.

This is partly the result of an effort to change Indonesia into a better and more prosperous nation, explained President Joko Widodo Tuesday (20/10).

Jokowi said the strategy is pursued through a fundamental transformation of the economy, which is based on three aspects.

The first aspect is changing the consumption-based economy into production-based economy. Second, the policy of fuel oil subsidy reallocation for infrastructure development and better targeted subsidies for poverty alleviation.

Most reallocation of fuel oil subsidies, Jokowi added, is used to finance infrastructure, such as toll marine construction and the new railway network outside Java in amount of Rp21 trillion; Prosperous Family Card distribution of Rp9.3 trillion; Healthy Indonesia Card of Rp2.7 trillion; Indonesia Smart Card that reach 19.2 million students amounting to Rp7.1 trillion; as well as the construction of 25 new reservoirs and irrigation to one million hectares of paddy fields at Rp33.3 trillion.

Meanwhile, the third aspect is to encourage a more equitable development outside Java. It was seen from the accelerated development of infrastructure in some places, such as construction of Trans Sumatra and Papua highway.

Total investment realization of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Investment (DCI) in the first half of 2015 is Rp259.7 trillion, of which 44% of the figure is investment outside Java. This shows an increase of up to 25% compared to the same period in 2014, with the realization of Rp222.8 trillion, where only 41% of them were invested outside Java.
