TAMPA (Yosefardi) – Syniverse and Telin Thursday have signed a multiyear agreement to provide Telin, one of the largest network service providers in Southeast Asia, with 4G roaming and signaling connectivity through Syniverse’s IPX Network Solution.
Through the agreement, Syniverse will enable Telin to deliver seamless LTE roaming services to its sister company and Indonesia’s largest operator, Telkomsel, which has more than 120 million subscribers.
Indonesia and Asia Pacific represent a critical market for LTE roaming in the next few years, according to GSMA Intelligence. The region has half of the world’s subscribers and connections, with 1.8 billion and 3.8 billion, respectively, and smartphone adoption is forecast to rise from 40 percent in 2015 to over 50 percent by 2016, and reach 66 percent by 2020.
The agreement with Telin builds on Syniverse’s recent accomplishments in Asia, including supporting Amazon China in optimizing mobile customer engagement, providing global A2P messaging for the Bigo free-call app, enabling Wi-Fi connectivity for Samsung Indonesia, delivering the Syniverse IPX Network Solution for SoftBank, and launching the world’s first VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services for LG Uplus and KDDI.
PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Internasional (Telin) is a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), a state-owned telecommunication and network service provider.
Telin focuses in international telecommunication business as well as serves as Telkom’s business arms in managing and developing its business lines abroad.
