JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Police’s headquarters has so far named seven companies as suspects behind forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
The said companies have operations in South Sumatra, Riau, and Central Kalimantan. They are PT RPP, PT BMH, and PT RPS (in South Sumatra); PT LIH in Riau; and PT GAP, PT MBA, and PT ASP (in Central Kalimantan).
In a press briefing at the President Palace Jakarta on Wednesday (Sep. 16) afternoon, Chief of the National Police General Badrodin Haiti revealed that the Police has also named 133 people as suspects behind forest fires.
Badrodin suggested the central government to add the companies proved behind forest fires to the blacklist, so therefore in the future, the government could reject their proposal whenever they ask for the issuance of licenses.
As reported earlier, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has repeatedly ordered the law enforcement institutions and all related ministries to take firm action over companies alleged behind forest fires, including to revoke the licenses of those companies. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
