JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Attorney General HM Prasetyo told the press on Tuesday (Aug. 4) afternoon that the Attorney General Office (AGO) will continue to handle the corruption case related to the irregularities in the disbursement of social assistance fund (locally known as Bansos) at the North Sumatra administration that implicating Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho.
Prasetyo, however, said that the AGO will also continue to coordinate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in handling the case.
In a different place, KPK Deputy Chief Johan Budi SP also confirmed that the investigation into irregularities in the disbursement of social assistance fund at the North Sumatra administration will remain in the hand of the AGO.
Governor of North Sumatra Gatot Pujo Nugroho, through his lawyer Razman Arif Nasution, meanwhile, has asked the KPK to take over the case from the AGO due to possible conflict of interest.
Gatot, a PKS politician, earlier has been named as suspect by the KPK related to investigation of bribery scandal implicating infamous lawyer OC Kaligis and judges at the State Administrative Court (PTUN) of Medan. KPK even has detained Gatot along with his wife Evi Susanti, who is also suspect in the case. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
