JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Attorney General HM Prasetyo told the press on Wednesday (July 29) afternoon that the Attorney General Office (AGO) will remain continue with its plan to execute Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, a are Philippine citizen sentenced to death for drug trafficking, Kompas.com reported.
“Whatever their (the Philippine government) request, including to release MJ (Mary Jane), is difficult to be responded because she has proved guilty in Indonesia for smuggling drugs,” Prasetyo said.
Prasetyo, however, also said that Mary Jane has a chance to ask for a clemency from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo with a new evidence (novum) being investigated by the Philippine authorities that she was a victim of human trafficking.
As we all know, the representatives of the Philippine’s Ministry of Justice have visited the AGO in order to discuss the fate of Mary Jane with the Attorney General and his deputies.
The AGO has earlier postponed the execution of Mary Jane following the request from the Philippine government. In Philippine, the authorities at there are investigating the case of human trafficking where Mary Jane is alleged as the victim.
