JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – In June, Indonesia Statistics (BPS) released inflation rate at 0.54%. With such calculation, Minister of Finance Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro predicts inflation rate during Ramadhan and Eid to be lower than the last five years.
“But looking at inflation in June, there is an indication of inflation in Ramadhan month, it will be the lowest or the second lowest inflation during Ramadhan and Eid in the past five years,” he says in Jakarta on Monday (Juy 13).
Looking at this figure, he believes that the government’s price control runs successfully. “Last month, we had market operation regularly and aggressively, and finally, price increase could be under control, which made inflation at half percent last month,” explains him.
With ever-increasing price during Ramadhan and Eid, Minister of Finance believes that currently, the government has been able to overcome the momentary demands, so that the price can be under control. “Every Eid, it has unusual trend, which means regardless the economic condition, demands certainly rise. Today, the government is able to overcome the momentary demands,” says Minister.
