JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained the Regent of Morotai Rusli Sibua just after finishing a questioning session on Wednesday (July 8) evening.
KPK’s Spokesperson Priharsa Nugraha said Rusli will be detained for the next 20 days at the KPK’s detention center at the Guntur military penitentiary.
Rusli earlier has been examined by KPK’s investigators for 6.5 hours at the KPK’s office in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
Previously, Rusli Sibua has been named as suspect related to bribery scandal of post-election dispute implicating Akil Mochtar, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) and graft convict.
Rusli has been charged with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 point 1 of the
Criminal Code (KUHP) for allegedly bribing Akil related to the handling of Morotai post-election dispute in the MK back in 2011.
Rusli along with his running mate Weni Paraisu leads Morotai regency after the MK determined the pair as the winner of the 2011 Morotai election. The pair was supported by a coalition of SBY’s Democratic Party and Golkar Party. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
