JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – General Gatot Nurmantyo has secured an approval from the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I over his nomination as the next military commander in a fit & proper test on Wednesday (July 1).
The Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) interestingly said his priority is to strengthen the Navy and the Air Force in order to help President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to realize his maritime dreams. President Jokowi, as we all know, wants to make Indonesia as the world’s maritime axis.
Gatot earlier has been nominated by President Jokowi as the sole candidate of the military commander to replace General Moeldoko.
Born in Tegal, Central Java, on Mar. 3, 1960, Gatot is now 55 years old. The four-star Army general still has three years remaining before entering his mandatory retirement in 2018. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
